Hello.  I am new to this software.

How can I import my customer list and invoice list to SAGE?  I can export my MSAccess data to word or Excel but don't know how to bring them over to SAGE.

Sage 50 cannot communicate with your email program Using Thunderbird

I saw all of the posts regarding the issue and realize that it's been done to death but we are having trouble emailing anything out from Sage 50 as it will give us an error message stating "Sage 50 cannot communicate with your email program."

* Thunderbird is now set it as the default client,
* Mailto: links work and bring up Thunderbird.
* MAPI links work from other programs like Crystal Reports.
* No Antivirus or Firewall software is running.

But still Sage 50 still brings up the error message. Anything else I can try? We are using a Windows 2008 R2 server and there are no Sage 50 updates left to apply.

Just wondering if anybody has experiences with emailing documents to customers directly out of sage 50?

We're using this feature often to email invoices, statements, receipts, quotes and more to our customers. As we are using outlook the emails are showing up and can be handled as any other email.

We would like to see a tool provided by the sage software to implement an email cover letter that can be customized. We like to share our corporate identity with all the written conversations, reports and so, we are communicating with.

I appreciate any feed back and/or suggestions.

We often email quotes, Purchase Orders, and Payment notifications directly from Sage 50.  The Outlook pop-up will show (after a delay) and then show again (after another delay) and then send the email (after a delay).

These measures are important to prevent an unprotected computer being turned into an Outlook junk-mailing zombie.  

But if, like me, you have good antivirus / anti-malware and a good firewall, and have clicked on the message a few thousand times and it's never been any program but Sage 50 that was sending Email, you may want to disable this security feature.   I've tested this work-around and it found it to work well:

** Warning, this requires modifying the Windows Registry directly, which is risky **.   Make these changes only if you follow good backup and security practices, and even then, only if you are qualified to do them.  

Importing Inventory - almost but not quite...

I found very good instructions on the Knowledge Base for exporting/importing my inventory from one Sage 50 CA to another (we incorporated had to open new books)...it worked like a charm right up to the last step - it even told me that it had imported the inventory - yet when I open the Inventory module, there is nothing there. Any help out there?

Unable to change cheque printing

I have created a new company in Sage 50 and would like to choose a printer only for cheque printing. I normally change the cheque printer in Reports & Forms , I choose the bank account I need to change a save.  But the problem is that when I choose the cheque printer, it doesn't save my selection and it reverts back to my default report printer.

  

Can't email an invoice to customer using email option in Sage.

I tried to e-mail a copy of an invoice today using the option in Sage 2016.  I select the form and enter and get this error message:

Printer no activated.  Error Code 30.  Has anyone ever had this happen to them?  Little puzzled, have never had this happen before.

Emailing from Sage 50 using Microsoft Office Outlook 2016

I have recently upgraded my computer from Microsoft 2010 to 2016 due to required system upgrades.  I am unable to send invoices and statements anymore because it is not compatible.  I've called Sage 50 three times since the upgrade was done in October 2015 and they continue to say there is no work around and it is no on their list of scheduled upgrades. 

I hate to feel like upgrading my system has created a degrade in service with my customers by no longer being able to offer e-mail versions of their invoices and statements.

I've tried many unsuccessful work-arounds.

Comments/Suggestions/Ideas are appreciated please 

The message I receive when attempting to e-mail is this:

MAPI

Sage 50 cannot communicate with your program.  Please ensure your e-mail program is MAPI-compatible and that it is the default MAPI client.

I have worked with the Sage 50 team and they even logged into my system so ensure my default was set and the version of Outlook was MAPI compatible and it is.


Print Personal Cheques at Home.

Am in over my head here. Am thinking of creating my own personal cheques via www.chequesnow.ca but read on Internet I will require an accounting package such as Sage 50 in order to key the details to be printed on the cheque. One cheque per 8X11 page to be printed on a HP Laserjet Pro 400 Color M451dn printer.

Would there be a template in Sage 50 that my Scotiabank cheque details can be keyed into the specific areas such as DATE, PAY TO THE ORDER OF,  $ amount, MEMO. My pre-printed personal cheques, one per 8X11 page, will already have the cheque number, my name and address, the Bank information.

As I said before, I have no knowledge of the required process. Need someone to point me in the right direction. Any assistance will be appreciated.

Emailing Invoices - Ridiculous

This day and age, Simply still can't save an Invoice as PDF, or needs Outlook (from six+ years ago) to email an invoice? And even then, it's a 50-50 chance it might work?

Do they know how ridiculous this is?

Not everyone likes Outlook, or using an eight year old version, and you can't have another email program installed that you'd rather use, since it might pose a conflict.

Sage, please get into the 90s, where every program could email on its own.

Takes about 10 minutes to implement. It's built into Windows for pete's sake. All you need is your smtp server, username & password, and you can send an email. Without any other program.

And don't tell me to print to a CreatePDF type printer. That opens another can of worms as Simply can only work with ONE printer, and any changes inside Simply changes the settings to the Default Windows Printer! If we have 30% of customers who want emailed invoices & 70% want paper, I constantly have to switch printers in the forms setup. Not going to happen.

Fonts are replaced in invoices when sent by email

Usually, PDFs are used to send WYSIWYG documents.  So when we customized our invoice using a commonly used font (Calibri) we weren't expecting any issues.  

However, it seems our customers are getting a different experience depending of what devices they use. The fonts of invoices or statements don't seem to be embedded in the PDF, so if the font is not present on the recipient's computer, it's replaced by another one. It means that on an Mac, iPhone, older Windows computer, Android, our customers are getting weird results where sometimes, numbers or letters are overlapping.  

Are we only limited to use Arial, Tahoma, Trebuchet MS and Verdana (available on most devices) in custom invoices to minimize the risk of this happening? 

Is there any solution to this issue?

Is there a way of forcing the font embedding in Sage?

Why is Sage not activating font embedding by default to provide more freedom to its customers?  It's a pretty common thing to have font embedding in PDFs to provide a WYSIWYG expericence...

Sage 50 CA Windows 10 PDF printer problem

Running Sage 50 Premium 2016.2 on Windows 10, when I select the "Microsoft Print to PDF On Ne01" printer and "Print & Record" a Sales Invoice (does the same for quotes also & probably any other record & print job), the print job gets canceled by Sage 50 with the message "Print cancelled", the Invoice is then recorded properly.  I can go back and bring the invoice back and just do a regular print and it prints just fine.  Can anyone else using Windows 10 confirm if this does the same thing on your system.  If it does then I will submit a case to Sage Tech support.

New webmail feature is flawed. Please access Gmail properly without forcing users to lower security settings

I was happy to see Sage 50 finally integrated the ability to send emails through "webmail", however this feature is flawed when used with Gmail. Sage 50 attempts to connect to Gmail's SMTP server using Basic Authentication, but Google has had Basic Authentication disabled by default for two years!

This issue occurs when you try to sync to a Gmail account after July 15, 2014 and Basic Authentication has not been enabled for your Gmail account.

Google has increased its security measures to block access to Google accounts after July 15, 2014 if those accounts are being set up or synced in apps and on devices that use Basic Authentication. -https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2984937

The only way around this is for users to enable "allow access for less secure apps" in their Google security settings, but as a consequence "makes your account more vulnerable".

Google may block sign-in attempts from some apps [Sage 50] or devices that do not use modern security standards. Since these apps and devices are easier to break into, blocking them helps keep your account safe. -https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255?hl=en-GB

Unfortunately I am not going to lower my Gmail security settings just to use the webmail feature. I would hope and urge the Sage 50 developers to access Gmail as most modern apps with similiar functionality have been doing this for a while (eg. Mozilla Thunderbird, Windows 10 Mail, etc). Looking forward to a future update that fixes this issue.

Sage 50 Canada - Invoices now have two Logo's in place with last upgrade 2016.3

I noticed my invoices printed with two logo's (same design) in the upper left corner (one slightly overlapping the other).  Thought it was just an error when I set up although I haven't changed my invoices or logos for a couple of years.  Was talking to another Sage 50 user in a different city - discussing the upgrade - and she noticed this same problem as well.  Thought I should let everyone know to check your invoice layout and logo placement.

I get "error occurred preparing email for sending"

I have changed nothing in my settings - the only thing different is I installed the new sage update.

I am not a happy camper  - what has happened?

Logo no longer shows up on any of our forms since 16.3 update

We had a JPG logo on our customized invoice form until the 16.3 update (Sage50 Quantum)  Now it won't show, and won't let me add any JPG file to the logo space.  The file we previously used (the logo file) is still there, it just says 'the picture cannot be displayed'.  The form wants a 'image file'. 

Is this a 'bug' ? will it be corrected, none of our forms look professional anymore with only the address 'dangling' in the form with no logo :(

The forms we have set up, have been working since 2009.  Anyone have any ideas?  Does the logo file now have to been copied to each PC somewhere?  It was being pulled from our server, the same machine that is hosting the Sage50 data file.

The logo file was also in settings under Company logo. (pointing to same location in all our forms).    We are not having the issue of two logos printing our own forms that I had noticed someone else posting about.

Inventory History Using SQL to update

Has anyone identified the table that would need to be updated for the history cost and qty of a an item.  I realize Sage 50 internally does not provide a import feature however I have acces to programmers that are familiar with MY SQL and they could do the update if I knew the tables that needed to be interacted with.  Has anyone determined that?  Has anyone done this already?

When i send out invoice shows : an error occurred preaparing the eamil for sending. my outlook have sentting 32 bit. and regualr email has no problem, my co-worker had same set up but no problem to send invoice.

Sent emails don't show in sent box in outlook 365.

My sage 50 emails do not show up in the Sent Box in Outlook 365. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
